'Go Run is produced in partnership between the Chicago Area Runners Association, a 501 c3 not-for-profit organization, and the Chicago Park District.

 

'Go Runs are FREE and open to anyone in our effort to make running enjoyable and accessible to all, both newcomers, and long-time runners alike. Through 'Go Run, CARA, and the Chicago Park District have an objective to activate neighborhood parks, build communities and encourage an active lifestyle through running and volunteerism.

Play the "CARA-Land" Game - Win a FREE Shirt!

Race to the finish of "CARA-Land" to win a free 'Go Run shirt! Your CARA-Land game board is on the back of your 'Go Run bib. Move forward on the board by earning finisher points at each 'Go Run.

After each 'Go Run, visit the blue tent to get an official stamp on your game board. Once you have reached the finish, we'll give you your prize - a free 'Go Run shirt! Everyone can win!

Earn 2 finisher points for finishes at Warren Park, Humboldt Park and 63rd St. Beach. Earn 3 points at all other parks. Double your points by completing challenges: 1.) First 'Go Run finish of the 2020 season., 2.) Bring a friend or family member to 'Go Run., 3.) Achieve a new personal best time., 4.) Finish on a cold (<50) or rainy day.

Season Schedule


'Go Runs are held weekly from February to November with the exceptions of the dates below. Check out the full schedule above or print one HERE. 'Go Runs are not held on the following dates:

  • 2/15 (Join us at CARA's Honda Miles Per Hour Run on 2/16)
  • 4/18 (Join us at CARA's Wintrust Lakefront 10 Miler & 5K on 4/18)
  • 7/25 (Join us at CARA's ChiTown Miles on 7/25)
  • 9/19 (Join us at CARA's Ready to Run 20 Miler on 9/20)




Registration


REGISTER HERE Cost: Free! Online: Please register online by Friday at Noon before your first 'Go Run. In-Person: You may also register in-person at 'Go Run between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Please only register once per the calendar year. Your registration is good for all parks for the entire 2020 season.




What to Expect


Expect a laid back, unitimidating, and hassle free experience where everyone is welcome. There will be runners, joggers, and walkers of all experience levels. Whether you are new to running, or have been participating for years, 'Go Run welcomes you to take part. Check-In Instructions


Please check in at your first 'Go Run each calendar year. Come to the blue tent at 'Go Run and pick-up your bib number. You only need to check in once per calendar year. Please keep your bib number and bring it to each 'Go Run. If you lose your bib, you do not need to register again. Simply come to the blue tent and we will be happy to provide you a new one.




Results / Timing


'Go Run is timed and results will be posted online at www.webscorer.com/cara. Results are not posted at the run. Please note, there are no competitive awards at Go Run. However, all participants can complete participation challenges to earn a free 'Go Run shirt. See "Play CARA-Land" below.

Volunteer


Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up, check-in, registration, and on course. Please consider volunteering as part of our 'Go Run participation. Sign-up to volunteer HERE. You may also volunteer for pre-run duties, such as set-up, registration and or check-in, and then do the run/walk. Volunteers should be 14 or older unless accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.




Weather Policy


We will run/wak rain or shine. However, if there is lightning or other hazardous weather we will cancel or postpone. Weather-related announcements will be made through the twitter feed at www.gorunchicago.org/weather and www.twitter.com/cararuns.




General FAQ


Minors: Those under 18 must have their parent or guardian sign the participation waiver. There is no age minimum to participate. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children. Dogs: If your dog is friendly and well behaved in large groups you’re welcome to bring your dog. Please have your dog on a leash, abide by all Chicago Park District regulations and also please line up behind other participants at the start. Strollers: Strollers are welcome, but for safety reasons those with strollers please line up behind other participants at the start. Through the run please stay aware of your surroundings as the park paths are not closed for these events. Wheelchairs: Please join us! Note: Some of our routes include some non-paved crossings or uneven pavement. Bikes / Skates: Please, no bikes, skates, skateboards or other wheeled devices not mentioned here. 'Go Runs are for those on foot only (except for those in wheelchairs and strollers). Lost Bib-Number: No problem. Come to the blue tent and we will give you another one. Notice: 'Go Runs reserve the right to deny or cancel a registration when deemed necessary.

COVID-19 Information


The Chicago Area Runners Association supports and is complying with the governor's "stay at home" order related to COVID-19. Due to this order, 'Go Run is paused through the month of April.
